I still think the primary motivations is to service the labor unions. The chief purpose of the minimum wage laws and the child labor laws is to knock out cheap, convenient labor mostly from teenagers. Why hire an inexperienced teenager when you can get union labor for the same price.

Now there's a new source of cheap labor that's undercutting the unions. You can't say "Ship them back to Mexico" because it would outrage your base. So you just ensure that it costs as much time and trouble to hire illegals as it does to hire union workers.

"That's really sad--but I guess the voters of Chicago have gotten what they voted for."

Uh, he's the gov of Illinois, not just Chicago.

There is no such thing as the Governor of Illinois. Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the country. If the rest of the state voted together in a block they still would not have enough votes to over come Chicago. Chicago just feeds of the rest of Illinois.

Do you see any signs that this will turn voters away from Blogojevich?

Blago's pretty weak IMHO. The dems may hold the governorship dependnig on who they put up in the primary though.

Mea Culpa--I know he's the governor. Guess I just had Chicago on the brain (I've had kids living there for years--but all three are back home, now, thank goodness!)

The amended Day and Temporary Labor Services Act, sponsored by State Rep. Cynthia Soto (D-Chicago) and State Sen. Miguel del Valle (D-Chicago)

It's the same in California. Most of the Mexican-American legislators encourage more illegal immigration from Mexico. I won't vote for anyone with a hispanic name without first researching their stance on illegal immigration.

See this:

Blago's linked to the "Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights" which recently released a DVD of illegal aliens working in a store owned by challenger Jim Oberweis. It looks like a setup.

Governor Blagojevich should be charged with conspiracy to commit tax evasion. These illegals pay NO taxes but consume the services paid for by other hard working US citizens that play by the rules. This whole illegal invasion issue will come to a head this year. Traitorous politicians that have sold out the American middle class worker will be dealt with at the polls.
