We were waiting thru the first hour and a half of ABC coverage just to see Dick. Now that we have, our combined opinion was that if that were my spouse I wouldn't have let him do the coverage he did.
It was pretty depressing to see Dick in such bad shape. That is not how I want to remember him. He slurred his words badly, he lost track of what he was saying, and the backwards count down threw him a curve ball. Several of my friends commented today that they changed the channel. I wonder what the ratings were for last 1/2 hour of coverage.
I admire his courage and strength but think someone should have known he wasn't in shape for a NY's eve celebration. Will pray he recovers enough for next year.

In that case, they missed the Bangles.

I know what you are saying, but there comes a time we as a people need to start maturing a kind of graciousness for one of us who has fallen on hardtimes will always be welcome...
There we too will have arrive at unconditional love in our own psych....is it not all part of the healing process?
By doing so, maybe we too will be able to accept life short falls and maybe lessen the pressures to regain all or some recovery God willing!

I admire his courage and strength but think someone should have known he wasn't in shape for a NY's eve celebration. --- Yes, perhaps he and his people might have wanted to give him a little less responsiblity.
Will pray he recovers enough for next year. --- me too.
