I wonder if Condi and others may have a strategy to show the world that Israel is not the bad guy here. Not that anyone would pay heed.

It would be bad form to stand behind a hardened wall, peering through ballistic 'glass' and pointing across the border to savages chasing each other , firing weapons, raping stray dogs and ululating with maniacal glee.
