My cat and dog eat stuff I would not touch with a 10 foot pole, and they are none the worse for it. This stuff must have been really bad.
Aflotoxin affects the liver and kidneys and doesn't kill all pets immediately. It is a painful death. If you feed kibble, at least buy a high quality kibble that does not contain corn.
I lost two dogs a couple of years ago to a bad batch of Pedigree dry food. This was in Asia. Pedigree did a recall, but it was too late for them. The problem was a bit of mold - so little it went unnoticed for a while, but was deadly to dogs - killed 100s here, so these warnings should be taken seriously.
