"Texas Trash"

6 cups chex/pretzel/pecan mixture* (see below)
1 cup Goldfish crackers, plain, cheese or parmesan
1 cup garlic bagel bites
Anything else you want to put in
6 Tbsp. butter
4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1 tsp. garlic powder

Heat oven to 250 degrees. In a shallow baking pan that will hold all the mixture, melt the butter and stir in the W-sauce & seasonings. Add the cereal mixture and toss to coat each piece. Bake in the oven 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels till cool.

~~~~~~~~
White Trash
1 large box Rice chex cereal
1 large box Corn chex cereal
2 heaping cups thin pretzel sticks - break them up a little
8 oz. pecan halves or large pieces -- if halves, break them up a little smaller
1 package confectioner's coating (white) - 24 oz. -- sometimes called almond bark or vanilla bark -- comes in a package at the grocery store that looks like an ice cube tray of 12 - 2oz. "cubes"
1/2 lb. confectioner's (powdered) sugar
In a VERY LARGE bowl, pour together the cereals, pretzels and pecans. Now, take out 6 cups of the mixture and set aside for the "Texas Trash" recipe above.
Melt the white coating in the microwave (process approx. 3 minutes on 100%--stir--if more time needed, process in 30-sec. increments, stirring each time until melted). Pour coating over the mix in the large bowl and toss quickly to coat each piece.
Have powdered sugar ready in a separate bowl or in a gallon-size Ziploc bag. With a very large spoon, scoop portions of the coated mix into the powdered sugar and either toss (in bowl) or shake (in bag) to completely coat each piece with sugar. Very important to do this all while still fairly warm.
Scoop out batches of mix into a large flour sifter or sieve and shake off all excess sugar. Spread on waxed paper-lined baking sheet to completely dry. Yummy, yum yum, addictive and so simple! I really love that it doesn't "shed" any sugar on you! I package this in little white plastic "trash cans" from the craft store.
Pumpkin Pie Trash
Use basic recipe for "White Trash" and melt one package (12 oz.) cinnamon chips in with the white candy bark. Add several tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice, plus an extra Tbsp of cinnamon, to the powdered sugar for dusting. These are wonderful!
There's your Chex Mix recipe, just above here--it's called "Texas Trash" in our neck of the woods. I'm so sorry to hear another of your bloodline sad stories; really the worst of all, I suppose. Give yourself a chance to grieve, even if you don't think you need to, under the circumstances. Then start a "Soul Train, Soul Train ..." Get on board ....
