He's of Iraqi ethnicity, so he could blend in. That really took guts, he's very pro US.

Why would a lebanese be in danger? He fits in perfectly.

While I don't support what this student did by traveling to Baghdad without even doing so much as informing his family, I do think that real journalists have much to learn from this brave young soul. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a movie based on this event at some point in the near future. I'm glad this story ended positively.

"There is a struggle in Iraq between good and evil, between those striving for freedom and liberty and those striving for death and destruction," it said.Good for Farris. He's a real journo, not a NY Slimes, AP, or Reuters pretender.

I suppose he could have gone some place REALLY dangerous, like Miami, Detroit, Los Angeles or Toronto.

What a hare-brained idea.
He's lucky he isn't in a Zarqawi video about now.
A very stupid act, imo.

It'll be interesting to see his grade for his "school project"I'd give him an A++++++
The journos reporting (LIVE!) from the bar of the Palestine Hotel will give him an F for showing them what real journalists do.
"Get that punk out of here!"

This kid could be set for life if he plays this right.
On another matter - is it that freakin' easy to get around out there? No wonder we can't catch OBL etc.!

is it that freakin' easy to get around out there? If you "look" Arabic it may be.
But if you look Anglo, count on being taken hostage, and probaly having your head cut off (what happened to our most recent "peace activist"?).
I was "inside the wire" for 6 months, and very happy for it.

I love this guy!
He was out getting the story while the "real" jounalists were hiding in the hotel bar.

They're going to do a movie on it. They'll call it "Farris Hassan's week off."

"Hassan? Hassan? Frye? Frye?"

Unless the other side already has. We really don't know the whole story on his 'visit' yet. Until his movements there are verified and also who he was in contact with, he's suspect.
