SAN DIEGO, Calif. (AP) -- Lynndie England, the U.S. soldier who posed for some of the most infamous pictures of detainee abuse at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison, suffered burns at the prison where she is serving her sentence, her family said Friday.
England was injured about three weeks ago in a kitchen mishap at Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar, said her father, Kenneth England, from his home in West Virginia.
The young reservist was reaching for a pan with chicken when grease splattered on her neck and chest, Kenneth England said. She was taken to the hospital, where they told her to put ice on it. She later had to ask for burn cream.
"When it happened, she didn't get nothing," her father said.
He last spoke with his daughter on Christmas, when she told him she was doing better. He said he expected to hear from her this weekend.
"As far as I know, she's doing fine," Kenneth England said.
A message left with the Navy was not immediately returned.
England, who was convicted of six counts involving prisoner mistreatment, was shown posing with a pyramid of naked detainees and pointing at the genitals of a prisoner while a cigarette hangs from the corner of her mouth. The photos were among several that sparked outrage and severely damaged America's image in the Muslim world.
England blamed the abuse on reputed abuse ringleader Pvt. Charles Graner Jr., whom she said took advantage of her love and trust while deployed in Iraq. Graner was sentenced to 10 years.
This is news?
Ya gotta give the MSM points for chutzpah.
They milk the actions of this person for every ounce of political gain they can, and now she's a victim of abuse too.
Sheesh.
or Newsworthy?
These people shouldn't be serving time for this.
Now where did I hear this before.....?
Ouch!
Barely.
If she didn't get nothing, then she did get something.
I'd want to see the alleged burns before passing judgement.
I burned my finger on a hot iron the other day. Someone call AP.
First you gotta have your picture taken with a stack of nude men.
Let me get back to you on that................
She should have had her protective gear on.
The whole country???
Give me a break.
Dr. Clinton! Dr. W. Clinton, please dial six-nine ...
The two are made for each other.
Last nights thread made it seem like she was hideously burned.
Guess she's clumsy as well as stupid.
