A friend at the Washington Post once described the situation to me as a dump truck backing up to their door every day. He said the question wasn't whether to publish a classified bit of information, but which and how much.
Describing Washington as a sieve does a disservice to those devices that hold back the noodles.
The CIA (Center for Intellectual Arrogance) is heavily populated with area-studies and economic academics who have an agenda to push (usually liberal). Combine in the professional obscurantists from State and the media is hooked up to a fire hose of classified. Not to mention that these people are in the business of hiding what they do.
Any attempt by DoJ is just so much more smoke in Washington--lots of noise, but nothing good will come of it.
Gee whiz, Mr. Grumpy Gills. We are having a little optimism here.
