VANCOUVER, TORONTO Industry Minister David Emerson said yesterday he would not apologize for comparing NDP Leader Jack Layton to a boiled dog's head because he didn't mean the remark to be insulting.
Mr. Emerson was quoted on a Liberal blog in December using the translated Cantonese phrase saap suk gau tau in reference to Mr. Layton. The phrase means a boiled dog's head and can imply someone is grinning insincerely.

I should have pointed out that the Liberals are the ruling party in Canada. Layton is the head of the far-leftist NDP (New Democratic Party).
I don't generally boil dog heads in my kitchen, but if I did boil one, I can just picture its looking like Mr. Layton. Certainly most of his ideas come from a boiled brain.

This is an entirely accurate description of Layton. He's a smug little silver spoon socialist who thinks he's smarter than the rest of humanity.
