more to the point: does this document provide fodder for the repeal/dissolution of the BATFE itself?

One would hope. One would also hope that everyone currently employed by BATF would simply stop breathing. It's not like anyone would notice.

I'm afraid that the ATF is far too useful a tool in the gradual militarization of our police forces from the federal level on down to let that happen.

Business as usual, unless we get really lucky.

No, but my fantasy would be for the repeal of the 1934 and 1986 machine gun bans and process purchases using the NICS like regular firearms.

Re: "more to the point: does this document provide fodder for the repeal/dissolution of the BATFE itself? "

Corrupt bureaucratic agencies will never be dissolved, particularly this one, because this is what it will mean: http://www.lewrockwell.com/suprynowicz/suprynowicz38.html.

The Second Amendment is long past its usefulness as a check on the growth of tyranny. We have been long past "that awkward stage" that Claire Wolf refers to and don't seem inclined to take the indicated action. Life's too comfy.

Too bad, because soon the tyrants will be employing millimeter wave cameras to search us everywhere we go, and even those who asked permission to carry will be harassed into the noise floor. The next socialist dem that gets elected will have all sorts of tools and precedents to use in the upcoming War on Guns. Plenty of well drilled trainees from the War on Terror to conscript as well. I hope I'm wrong, but the first rule of bureaucracy is, at all costs, maintain the bureaucracy. The "just following orders" of other totalitarian nightmares will be heard in America as "just doing my job".
