India will and should remain secular, and I am saying this being a Hindu. We are and shall always be a secular democracy. But I fear most Christians here will demand India give them all the rights (which India already does) while they would want the same to be denied in case of Hindus in their countries which in other words is simply double standards. Christians here would be the first to come out with all the diatribe should India deny the Christians the right to built a Church in the middle of the city.

We aren't talking about a right to religion issue here.

We're talking about the right of a religious leader to make statements based on the religious views of his religion.

That is what has caused 'outrage'.
