We were wanting to be able to go up to our son's house (he lives about 4 hours away) for his annual New Years Eve party/open house that he hosts for his non-drinking friends who want an alcohol free place to get together and celebrate. It's always a lot of fun, but JK has a late afternoon family portrait appointment on the books for Saturday. It's been scheduled since October. We tried to have it rescheduled, but there is no other time they can come in.....so, we will stay home and probably toast the new year in with a glass of white zin. That suits us fine. We are not big party people anymore. LOL.
I imagine that formal portrait work is a lucrative thing in holidays when families come together from the far corners. If one was willing to forego Christmas (or part of it) one could make the rounds of households taking group shots etc. I know I am NOT professional but when there are church families together etc I try to get pix & often they tell me that the pix I take are better than ones that they have had professionally done. sometimes I think the relaxed atmosphere at churhc / home can be better to put people at ease than a studio. Just my thought. Good equipement is impt. I know I can tell a big difference in the vaious cameras I use.
try those champaingn drink Esm talked about.. something a little festive??? and make a fun appetizer tray. Alone with a special person is much better than party w/crowd.. MUCH better.
Ah the photographer's life. Hey, why don't you and JK raise a glass for me tonight. I'll be sitting alone watching the ball fall and enjoying my Christmas tree. (Come to think of it though, that will be three hours before your new year starts....never mind).
