Thank you so much. I appreciate your stopping by and your kind comments. May you have a wonderful New Years holiday weekend & great 2006 ahead.
I don't recall you visiting us here before - so welcome! come visit again.
*Thank you. I wasn't aware of your wonderful site, and only by way of FR did I get there. Blessed New Year!
from Purpleland
You are a very quick learner, HTML wise. Billie must be thrilled to have you as one of the hostesses.
Some more inspirations for the coming year:
Love your screen name, wish I had thought of it...I love the color purple...
I've been thrilled with ALL of our hostesses and hosts. (wanna come back?) I'm thrilled you're visiting us again, daisy. :)
Thank you Dolly for a wonderful message and terrific post.
Happy you found us, purpleland. Hope you'll visit often. Let us know if you'd like to be on our ping list. Some would rather just find the threads themselves - others like to be *pinged* when we post the new threads every day. :)
This is so beautiful. I've probably read this before but it's worth reading again.
I'll come back later to read more.

BRING ON THE PING! and the inspirational messages.
Thank you daisy, from you this is a very appreciated compliment as I have been impressed with the wonderful work you have done on past threads.
Actually the colors "evolved" in the couple hours it took me to put this together. the original major "frame" in table was several colors of blue & a mauve shade. Many factors made me eliminate that & chose between one of a couple white snowflakes. I also had my "famous" green lily pad edges to pick up the non winter color in photos..that also was changed.
I must have had two dozen table combinations.. and could have gone for another 6 hours playing around w/possibilities.(sound familiar)
Just started too late to have this shape up the way I envisioned.
Like the three graphics. Snagging them for later modification/use.
:-)
My bride and I have a tradition. We never go out on NYE, we have a day long feeding frenzy.
We share a cheese fondue, a shrimp cocktail made with those twelve to the pound shrimps, scallops wrapped in bacon, smoked salmon and a loaf of what people used to call frensh bread, and a bottle of domestic champagne. (Not all at once, but spread out over the whole day) She wakes me up about 10:50 (Central Time Zone) so we can watch the ball drop, then we go to bed.
New Year's Day we do two things. We walk around a local lake and we eat left-overs.
How about you?
Thank you ! It was a recent email.. and when my guest contributor wasn't able to contribute today, I scrambled this morning. I find emails a good source of info.
I did change the wording & did some minor changes in pix.
I have addressed this to our other hostesses and host, too, so they can add you to their list. Consider yourself pinged to future threads. :) They are not all inspirational, purpleland, but many of them are - it's a variety we post here; every Monday we honor our military with "Military Monday" (if a holiday falls on the weekend, we may postpone the Military Monday thread til Tuesday), and usually on Thursdays we have JohnHuang's "Two Cents" essays - usually poking fun at the liberals! The weekends find us laid back with just dropping in and out as one wants to on our TGIF weekend threads.
Seems each year I do something different.. some years parties, some "first Night" (this is Akron's day/ night long celebration, and others dinner/movie)
A couple years ago my friend Paul & I went to Dunkirk NY & spent the day/night w/my aunt & uncle who live on lake Erie.. we walked a couple miles ON the lake/ice. bitter cold. All three of them were asleep on couches/chairs when the ball dropped at Times Square.
Last year I was at Severance for the annual symphony tribute to New years. I have a few friends in the orchestra & love to get pix/time with them. After the major concert is a time of dancing to smaller combos & the orchestra members mingle etc.
Haven't tied down any firm plans yet. being flexible. Have my date lined up & he is okay with last minute decision on what etc. Severance may however be sold out. Dont like to wander around Akron in Freezing cold or pouring rain.
I would actually like to be in the tropics on the beach but haven't had this invite!!!! (*wink*)
Mike (MJY1288 one of my fellow dose posters) and his wife kindly sent me some flowers on the passing of my mother. I have now put them in a vase and as a thank you to Mike and his wife here is a photo of them.
Oh, those are so pretty! It's always nice to see if what we order at the florist is what the recipient *gets*.

Keep us posed on how things are going Eleanor
It must be even more difficult in a different country as they may not always have the some flowers but as you say these are very pretty.
I enjoy the pictures you post of your area. Kent is my son's middle name. He was actually named for the college that his dad & I met at/attended in Ohio.
Sorry about the complications for you. How aggravating. I swear I didn't send Murphy there! I told him to get lost but not to England!
Nan mentioned the other day and she is right.. we do take for granted the ease for us in having the funeral directors take charge of the events in the passing of a loved one.
