"Johor is home to large tracts of jungle, including its famed Endau-Rompin National Park, and unconfirmed sightings of large creatures surface periodically."

In the right country, the big-foot souvenir business can be very lucrative. Malaysia sounds like an excellent place to set up shop. It's loaded with superstitious suckers.

Malaya has many bigger problems to deal with than Big Foot: like, for instance, implementing Democracy and the will of the people.
> and there's the possibility of something other than animals, then maybe we would put camera traps..."
These jokers will probably set down machine-gun traps for Big Foot. If there ever was such an animal lurking in the Malay penninsula, soon there won't be.
"Koooo-Eeeee! Big Foot! Yeh, mate! Keep yer head down until these larrikins give you the vote! Mate, I mean it!"

Maybe these bigfeet are some of the beast men the russians tried to make for invincible soldiers. They escaped.

I have a totally non scientific viewpoint that at some time something we call a Troll did exist, and may still exist somewhere. (A Neanderthal sighting?) This is based only on myth and story. We need something that stands outside our regular, ordered world and gives it a sense of the unknown and of mystery.
Of course, I would also acknowledge that the majority of these sightings-as well as UFOs sightings-are pure bunk and fabrication perpetrated to bring tourists to purchase products from the local convience story. (I haven't see you in the trailer park..yer not from around here, are you?)
