There's nothing less fun than watching Hollywood elites pat each other on the back for sticking it to mainstream America.

I think even AMPAS is very concerned about the general public reaction when movies like
Brokeback Mountain and
Syriana gets Oscar nods, which will turn off the majority of Americans in no time flat.

If I placed bets, I'd bet BM is going to be a huge hit. I think every liberal in America will make a pilgrimage to see it, just like they did for Fahrenheit 911.

I don't watch Hollyweird awards shows, I'm not swayed by the awards Hollyweird gives itself and I don't go to movies.
Hollyweird can go Brokeback Mountain itself.

Oh well, another homo thread.
I might as well insert my Politically Incorrect Elton John joke in here...
Did you hear that Elton John's new blushing bride is worried about contracting botulism?
He heard that you can get it from old meat in a can.

These awards are meaningless. They reflect the opinions of no one. The public votes on movies every matinee, when they spend their hard-earned money and 2 1/2 hours of their busy lives sitting in a dark room with a bunch of strangers eating popcorn.
Hype doesn't work. Elitism doesn't work. Word of mouth works. People see movies other people recommend, not movies Hollywood declares "must-see." I would go so far as to say that Hollywood's endorsement is a kiss of death at the box office. I know that I'm immediately suspicious of any movie that's nominated for one of these trinket awards.

I haven't cared for YEARS about who gets what award in Hollywood. Vote with your wallet. Don't see their movies.

Get ready for this to be the HBO, Showtime, Starz feature presentation for the next 5 years. This will also be made a part of the curriculum in every literature/cinematography college class in the nation.

DO NOT go see Family Stone.
Holliweird tried as hard as they could to throw everything into this movie. A deaf gay man married to a black man, who they adopted a child, with a mother with breast cancer and the sibling sons exchanging lovers and a dad smoking pot with his grown child. We WALKED out!
Disgraceful LIBERAL AGENDA. The movie was full and I am sure in conservative Texas that did not go over well with all who thought there were getting a family type movie.

There's not much watching in Hollywood these days. An old
Dukes Of Hazzard fifth episode, "Comrade Duke" was funnier than anything now on either the multiplex or the small tube. We could lampoon the Russians back in the 80s as bad heavies. No one in Tinseltown could portray Al Qaeda terrorists in that kind of light today.

Woody Allen's new "slow-paced" atheist drama, MATCH POINT
I almost believe in "alien abductions".
It's about the best explanation for what happened to the Woody Allen
that did "Sleeper", "Annie Hall" and other great stuff..
but now is a totally different lifeform.

"I don't know what to make of the mindset that would pick such a mediocre, unsuccessful movie like this for an award."Does the author suggest that only successful, box office hits are worthy of awards? Is he looking for quality, content or profit...or all of the above?
