I agree with the list. These (maybe except for Mitt Romney)are all worse than McCain on the most important issues to me - national security, pro-life, etc. McCain irritates me to no end on the minor stuff - Campaign finance, etc. But he's one of the WOT's staunchest advocates. I'd vote for somebody who advocates CF but is strong on national security over somebody who votes aginst CF but also criticizes the war....Putting on flame suit.....
National Security-
He sponsered and pushed an amendment to protect the rights of terrorists in this war.
He joined Lindsey's amendment to give these people rights to our Courts.
He's called for an investigation into the NSA taps, instead of an investigation into the person leaking national security to the NYT's that is likely one of his fellow Senators.
He has sought to undermine the SOD (Rumsfield) for years.
Judges-
He blocked the end of the filibuster over Judges. Some are still tied up in filibusters. That deal played a large reason in why the President felt he had to choose Miers, and it is why the Dems are able to still hold it over everyone's heads for Alito and anyone that follows. If pro-life is your concern, a Senator that bloacks the ability to confirm Constitutionalist Judges doesn't deserve any defense from you.
I reject your rational about McCain on strong basis.
Thank you...McCain isn't on the list because:
1. He's a patriot
2. He's a Goldwater/Reagan Republican
3. He's a staunch defender of American foreign affairs/Bush's military policies
4. He's a right-to-lifer
5. He's a deficit hawk.
6. He seeks ways to create a fairer electorial process.
7. He supports the military man and woman in the trenches.
8. He wants America to remain the envy of the world.
9. He backs the need for conservative federal judges.
AND 10. When his nation called for service during Vietnam, he didn't hide in an air national guard unit, he didn't attend parties that featured illegal drugs, he didn't shirk scheduled ANG drills to support Alabama politial buddies, and he didn't get convicted for DUI...
How in the world can you consider "campaing finance," restricting your right to free speech during the campaings, to be "minor stuff?"
What else in the Constitution do you consider to be "minor?"
The Second Amendment? The Fourth?
I do not know how you can call the First Amendment minor. Campaign finance should be called First Amendment reform.
