WIth all due respect, I do not see how McCain is the anti-thesis to your enumerated list. Take spending, how has McCain advocated less spending? And this torture bill business, c'mon; torture is already against the convention. All this ban does is weaken our ability to gain vital information that will save American lives.

...not only advocated it, he championed it in criticism of the current budget (with its Bridge to Nowhere, etc. and other pork provisions). The pork hungry Republicans who opt for these inclusions are as bad as the minority RATS who, thankfully, no longer can be as effective as they once were. Torture has been proven time and again to serve little good because the person being tortured will say anything to stop the pain--BTW, it was information gained through torture that Saddam's alleged WMDs were believed stockpiled.
