Rebel, if you notice the list all come from blue states except Iowa. More socially conservative Republicans would not be elected under any circumstances State wide in NY, Massachusetts, RI or Maine.

Exactly right. Maine has become dominated by the increasing population of the south part of the state, over half of which are transplants, many from Massachusetts, where they are fleeing the socialist paradise they created. Unfortunately, they never learned.

The northern part of the state, though, is much more conservative - as a matter of fact Michaud is more like a DINO.

Interesting, only one northern Maine county went red in 2004. See map link below. However, they are more conservative than York or Cumberland counties. Unfortunately they don't have the population to make changes State wide.
