Ralph Edwards, who has died aged 92, brought the treacly, intrusive nature of American television to Britain when he introduced the first BBC edition of This is Your Life with a then-novel trick in 1956.

Sorry if this is a reprint. But I sure missed seeing it yesterday. Whether you liked him or not (I didn't), he definitely was an American icon.

It IS most definitely a reprint He died in Mid-Novembr.
