Carol Keeton McLellan Rylander Strayhorn has not been getting any traction. She has a reputation as a moonbat, and she's worked hard for it. Kinky Friedman's shtick got old the second time Pat Paulson did it. There's not that many people that will vote for a "let's get drunk in a bar and say outrageous things" candidate. The only people I see expressing any interest in Friedman are some newspaper reporters, and I suspect that's primarily because he has some good one-liners, and it's easy to write a story after interviewing him. The clowns at Texas Monthly love his type of stupidity.

Perry's not great, but he's got name recognition, and hasn't teed anyone off, lately. As to Willie Nelson having political clout, nah. He can't even get a candidate elected in Austin, where he's considered by the local media to be on a first name basis with God.
