You caught me, I grew up in Indiana. ;)
See my other post about the schools. I think the problem with "Californians" is that they are coming here for the real estate prices. Lots of rental property being bought. Maybe the problem too is that to a lot of people, California=Liberal

That's what happened to Washington. Now it's California north. Housing prices are crazy.
California means liberal. I hear all that blather about how most of them are really conservative except in SF but you don't have a mostly conservative, or even a 40%conservative state and have all those socialists and radicals in the legislature, on the courts and in the bureaucracy. Somebody voted for these guys and it was a BIG vote.
If it's any help, my sister (a CA refugee), who moved up there in the summer of '03 is a staunch, hard headed right wing conservative.
They bought a resale home, so no additional property, trees or land was destroyed when they moved in.
And she's a nurse, so you're in good hands :)
