Porn certainly predates the Internet

So, if you’re an over-protective parent, move to Vietnam. If you need some extra attention, go to London. Gentlemen, if you’re concerned about your performance, Chinese women might not be your best bet. Ladies, if you hate taking the pill, you might like a Brazilian. Or a Swede

When it comes to unplanned pregnancies, the worry warts come from Hong Kong, Poland, and Serbia Montenegro. And as for who’s getting lucky the most...you can still safely leave it to the French. Everybody is thinking about sex.

Last year mobile phone firms spent billions of pounds on networks that will soon allow us to download still and moving images on to ‘third-generation’ handsets that are starting to appear in the shops. Now, to recoup their investment, they are resorting to the oldest sales gimmick in the book to flog the new phones - s-e-x.

That sex sells is hardly a startling discovery. What is striking, however, is how analysts and executives are acknowledging - for the first time - how important it is when it comes to driving technological advance. Analysts estimate that demand for sex services delivered via mobile phones could be worth as much as £1 billion a year in Britain alone this year.

In the rapidly exploding world of cyber-porn, some of the most successful entrepreneurs are women. Not surprisingly, for a city that is the porn film capital of the planet and claims more internet start-up companies than even Silicon Valley, Los Angeles is also a magnet for some of the leading female sex merchants on the Web

These days anyone can set up a website and become a porn star. With the inter-net fundamentally changing the industry, pornography is becoming adult mainstream entertainment.

Porn certainly predates the Internet

At least as far back as a Sears and Roebuck
catalog in the outhouse.

Porn predates recorded history. Long before we developed an alphabet and maybe even language, we were carving pictures of naked ladies on the side of the cave.

And who was the chronologically first pornographer? The name must be lost in antiquity.

I think the article was stating that you buy Corn before the Internet existed.

Probably more conjecture than anything. I don't specifically know of porno cave drawings. But there are lots of examples of naughty figurines from ancient civilizations.

The interest in sex and depicting it goes back thousands of years.

Vint Cerf (one of the founders of the internet) was on C-Span yesterday. He said that the first industry to exploit technology is the porn industry. He went on to discuss how porn has been closely connected to most major I/C (information communication) revolutions in the last 50 years.

Wonder what Algore would have to say about all this.

Hari Palmz. Amazingly, he was blind.

So much for the theory that the Cold War and Space Race are responsible for the high tech revolution. I guess when Intel designed the first microprocessor, they were motivated by a desire for portable porn computers. Ditto for the Internet. I won't even touch the implications for the development of the mouse.
