BAGHDAD, Iraq - Since results from Iraq's national assembly election trickled out this week showing that Shiite Muslims -many backed by neighboring Iran - would dominate the new parliament, Sunni Muslims have begun to ask: Is Israel really Iraq's enemy, or is it neighboring Iran?

Israel doesn't care who the Iraqis worship; Iran demands that they worship accordint to the dictates of their radical mullahs.

I don't know...... Who IS the greater threat?

There was an 8 year war with Iran, and few if any Iraqis have forgotten. Millions were killed in that war and it seemed to them to last forever.

I would say that the hatred of the Iranian mullahs is HUGE, although they feel a connection with the Iranian people, especially in the Shiia areas. That connection to the people does NOT translate into support for the mad mullahs of Tehran.

Iraqis began the war (read imposed the war on us) in 1980

Did anything ever come of the truckload of ballots they intercepted being smuggled across the Iran/Iraq border? I do have my suspicions about the outcome. Iran seems to have taken a page from the Democrat playbook.

But Jeff Greenfield said on Imus that the Iranians were going to put THEIR guy in charge of Iraq!

I was listening to Greenfield and thinking he should have his head examined. He seems to have forgotten that little matter of a war. The Iraqis haven't.

I can't wait to hear the Democrats coming out saying the war in Iraq has had no benficial effects for America.

During the Iraqi Iranian war, Isreal provided spare parts to the Iranian Airforce to keep their planes flying. Despite the anti-Isreal rheotoric of the mullahs of Iran, Isreal figure that as long as the Arabs have a Persian threat from the east, they will take their eyes off of them. Today, without Isreali support, Iran is repeating the same role. Tomorrow Isreal may support Iraq to buttress Iran. Welcome to the Middle East. Time will tell.

This war...this final war...has much to do with democrats and Iraq..and even secular America. Forgive me for being forward, but this is a war (The War) between Good and evil. On one side are those who believe in God (those who are willing to obey the Creator)...and on the other side are those who believe that humans are the answer (the Democrats) and those who believe that Hatred (and its father) is the answer (the true islamics).

Whoever is watching knows...here it comes. It ain't about America...or Europe. But, here it comes...the final battle.

Israel has no desire to control others. The mullahs and the new president of Iran do. You make the call.

I don't agree at all, but a perspective many agree with, particularly in the Middle East. Though they may not agree with who the good guys are, seems UBL and company see this as The Big Battle, too. My own theory is much different, but it's interesting to see how others see it.

We were doing the same thing to a limited extent, and some people don't seem to understand that that's how the game is played there--you don't get to pick "the good" side. You work with what's there.

Wasn't that story found out to be phony itself? I think so.

"Did anything ever come of the truckload of ballots they intercepted..."

As I understand it, that whole story was nothing but BS so that the media could say the elections weren't REALLY valid.
