Looks like it took a lot of work.
From the article, with added language in brackets to identify folks:
It took [homeowner] Powers, [neighbor] Estes and their free-labor [neighborhood] child work force an estimated 40-hours of work. Powers' 11-year old daughter, Brook, sewed the puffy red gloves, bright carrot-shaped nose, the draping plaid scarf and the shiny red band for the black top hat.
It's not a real carrot - a real carrot would probably be too small for a 16-foot snowman.

I am surprised that the AP article did not call it a "snow person" or a "snow sculpture" so as to avoid sexist language.Q: What's the difference between snowmen and snow-women?
A: snowballs
Highlight above for answer... slightly off color but not profane... ;-)

Much cooler in real life, the guy lives up the road from us - we took the grandchildren by for a look....wow.
Can't wait for Spring, I wonder how he will handle any tippy-ness.

Q: What's the difference between snowmen and snow-women?
Way back when I was a 1st Sgt., I came to work early one morning to find a male and female (anatomically correct) snow men by my office door.
No problem. The CO didnt like it but who runs the Company, the 1st Shirt of the CO?
