IMHO, you are waaaayyyy out ahead of the parent/child template. You have, of course, heard the old saw, "If you're not a Dem by the age of 18, you have no heart, and if you're not a Republican by the age of 30, you either have no brain, you work for tax money, or you're in the Entertainment/Academic Industrial Complex" or something like that .... ;>)
