I would like to propose a Bill before the senate or house that would make it LAW for any US media outlet to run any files, be it photos or video or audio without a date stamp. I remember the Guantanamo Bay issue that was going on and the media, FOX News included kept playing years after file footage of the terrorists in Guantanamo in those chain link fences. Did you know that they were only in those conditions a couple months?
The media has full access to Guantanamo why didn't they update their file footage? I strongly feel any file footage should have a date stamp above or under where it says file footage. I have also seen similar misuses when they talk about Iraq then they show OLD file footage of a car bombing or something. How are people supposed to think the war is going when they keep seeing the same footage? Maybe if the footage was dated some of this confusion would be cleared up.

Exactly. The only images of ANWR I've ever seen on the TV consist of huge herds of caribou, wildflowers, and elk. (On FOX.) Until this thread, I had no idea that ANWR was so deserted. And I get my major news from the net.
I think media automatically become liberal somehow. Maybe it just seeps unavoidably in. FOX is now no better than CNN.

"they should be required to label the file with GPS location."
Interesting ideas but can you imagine the whining, griping and general outcry from the press about government regulation the press?
I suggest we call it the "Free Press Accountability Act", which could include specific language addressing the illegal leaking of classified and sensitive information (with double or triple penalties during a time of war, for example).
