'Sir' Elton's gay partner is no 'Lady'! Washington | December 23, 2005 7:11:25 PM IST
Sir Elton John and his longtime partner David Furnish may have finally united in a civil ceremony on Dec 21, but the latter will not be referred to as a Lady, even though his partner is a Knight, according to etiquette authority Debrett's.
In Britain, it is customary for wives of knights of the realm to take the title of Lady in place of Mrs, but the rule will not extend to gay civil unions, which became legal in the UK this week.
"Even though they are married, people should still address him as Mr David Furnish," a spokesman for Debrett's, publishers of Peerage And Baronetage was quoted by Contactmusic,as saying.
Meanwhile Elton's close pal Liz Hurley was the cynosure of all eyes at the reception ceremony of the couple, in her flowing white dress with a matching fur stole complemented by drop arrings and a sparkling diamond necklace. (ANI)

I prefer the terms pitcher and catcher...
GUARD: You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called Arthur-King, you and your silly English K...niggets.
Your reading it aren't you?
I think it depends upon who is "pitching" and who is "catching" on a particulat night.
Yes - I read a lot of things that I don't approve of; as do the rest of us.
I agreed with what you said. I often find some of these post unbelievable. Not this one particularly, but for me, this does not matter to me because he is from England and their rules are their rules, but also we have known for sooo long that Elton and his husband have been together for 20 years which is why I am surprised that this is a story.
