Tiny Christmas

“Where do the bugs spend Christmas, Dad?
Where do they go when it’s cold?
What do they give each other, Daddy?”
Then she sat, and she waited to be told.

So I sat down beside her and held her hand,
And I told her the Truth about Things.
That all of the good bugs have a party,
Where they wait for what Santa Claus brings.

All the fireflies get fresh batteries,
That will last them until the next year,
The butterflies all get new fancy designs,
They so like to be stylish, My Dear!

The ants will get pants that have pockets,
They must carry so much around,
They can pack a few nibbles to munch on,
While they’re working so hard through the year!

The nice bees will each get a compass,
To help them as they fly about,
And they all get the tiniest radio,
That’s to give one another a shout!

For when a bee finds some flowers,
She doesn’t just keep them herself,
She calls on her friends, and they help her,
To put honey jars up on the shelf!

So what they are doing in Winter,
Or when it’s too cold or too wet?
They all sit around writing letters,
And they send them to Santa! You bet!

Up at the North Pole there’s a section,
For the notes that are tiny and faint,
But that’s where the bugs’ tiny letters,
Get the message across to a Saint!

Then Santa makes sure that they get things,
With the help of each reindeer’s hoof,
Every stop that he makes for a chimney,
They sprinkle out dust on the roof!

And that dust settles down where the bugs are,
And then magically finds its way,
To the right kind of insect that needs it,
And it fills the bug’s stocking that day!

In the Spring, when you see a bright butterfly,
Or a bee zooming off on its task,
Just remember the good get rewarded,
But it’s also important to ask!

Snugs to you and your Dad from My Heart.

My Mom died at 61 years young, on my Birthday.
It was almost like it was planned,
one my brothers is the 12th.
My other brothers is the 8th
Mine is Feb 11th.
She went to be with the Lord about the same time I was waking up 3000 miles away in Buffalo.

At first I was absolutely devastated, how could I ever look at my Birthday as a Happy day again.
And then I was at Peace, like the Lord calmed my Soul and it became clear.

Feb 11th is the day of my birth on this earth.
Feb 11th is the day my Mother was born into the Kingdom of Heaven.

I now enjoy my birthday along with hers together, and Rejoice that she is with Jesus, where we all want to be. Comforted in his Prescence, His Grace and in all His Glory.

Your Mum shares Jesus' Birthday, what a Glorious event that we celebrate every year.

I join you in your grief my friend, your loss, your sadness.
We have Strength thru Christ in knowing where she is. To be absent from the body, is to be in the prescence of the Lord.

Be well my friend, know that we are here for you.
Love to you and yours in Christ.

Hope you had the merriest Christmas ever.

Hey, we still have tomorrow - maybe your company will be gone and you can catch up with YOUR pings! :)

Yes, my company left a couple hours ago. I am trying to catch up with some of my pings tonight, but not making a lot of progress. Maybe tomorrow would be a better day to do this. Had a wonderful day with my son and his family, but I am exhausted! I think I shall go to bed now. :-)

Good night. I'll be back sometime tomorrow.

So well said Rus.. hope all are doing well, the day after.

We are getting a taste of snow /wind/ cold again. A good friend of mine from church had her daughter/family in town from Hawaii. They wanted to be with her as it was the first Christmas following the death of her husband.

The children ages 12 & 8 had never seen snow before. They will be here for 2 weeks & will no doubt get a great introduction to the white stuff.

Snugs, thinking of you during this difficult time.

"That is so cute! Who would have thought? A Christmas poem about "bugs". LOL!!"

Thanks! Interestingly, the inspiration for that poem came from Billie's image posted at 367.

It popped into my head that it portrayed a tree out in the forest, decorated by lightning bugs. Then I started thinking about where those bugs had come from ...

"It's an interesting mind you have, NnB." -- Oh, yes! One of my favorite companions! "It entertains me, constantly."

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers yesterday much appreciated and helped so much. Sorry if I have not thanked you all personally but there were so many kind people.

Today St Stephen's Day is Boxing Day in England, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I will be doing a special on this on the Dose tonight in the meantime a special festive greeting from England.

May God bless you and give you strength and joy on this day.

If you must, then sit beside me....
Tell me, why have I been weeping?
” -- Dorothy Parker

Why Have I Been Weeping?

I see the faces in the park, and each one tells a story,
Some bitter from the striving, some faded with their glory.
Some look out on the park and see the life inside them,
And some have hurts upon their face with nowhere else to hide them.

A comely matron passes by, her pride protects her pain,
She doesn’t seem to notice that her smile is showing strain.
A pair of schoolgirls next are seen, and giggle as they pass,
I hope their laughter will grow up when laddy meets his lass.

An old man sits near dozing with the sun upon his face,
I know that in his mind he is no longer near this place.
Instead he walks with hand about the love that he once held,
And now he sits with frozen smile where happiness has gelled.

A woman looks into my eyes, a question seems to rise,
Although her lips say nothing it is clearly in her eyes.
“Oh, stranger, do you know the pain I’m feeling in my heart?
Can you tell why I’ve been weeping? Do you know what made me start?”

I only know the answer to a question still unasked,
For it is the answer always for the way we have been tasked.
The answer is to love someone, though someone brought you pain,
Even though you’re hurting now, you still must love again.

For love is still the answer to the way to get through life,
And it doesn’t matter if you fail, or if you live in strife.
You must share your pain and loneliness, and laugh it all away,
And you’ll find that pain is ebbing as love’s tide flows in today.

Step out of the shadow of the pain that brought you grief,
And hold a child, and see her smile, and you will feel relief.
No matter how you’re hurting, and no matter what you’ve lost,
There’s even more to be received, with negligible cost.

Your life has many turnings, at the end you may look back,
And though you know you lost something, there’s nothing that you lack.
The life that seemed so shattered has been made into a whole,
And your audience applauds you for your stunning, starring role.
