On the west coast, I brought my family to every Civil War re-enactment available. But now, here in the South, the richness and meaning of the Civil War is made far, far clearer. I hope to visit Fort Fisher.

Bentonville Battle field and the Harper house are worth a day long visit. The driving tour with numbered stops is very good as much of the land has not changed much.

The Aversboro Battle Field is a work in progress but they are pushing ahead with things.

The surrender site in Durhum is also worth a look as well as the Albamarle (sp?) site in Kinston.
