"a year of unrelenting attacks on the United Nations and criticism of his management of the $64 billion Oil-for-Food program in Iraq"

Annan doesn't know what 'unrelenting attacks' are until he gets a dozen lead stories on the evening news, Today, GMA, the Early Show, Meet the Press, Face the Nation, George Steponallofus, 60 Minutes and 25 front page stories on the NYT, LAT, Time and Newsweek: Abu Ghraib is 'unrelenting attacks.'
