No this will be typical Leftist propaganda where they repeat all the disinformation the KGB put out right after as "new evidence". History Channel has really moved away from Academic credibility over towards the tin-foil-hat-pop-culture side in the last few years.

Can someone refresh my memory - wasn't there some conspiracy theory surrounding a US (or Korean) politian who was on board? It was tin foil hat stuff if I remember correctly.

MNJ,
Tell you the truth I don't remember the History Channel ever being especially academic.
If it were, it would have astonishingly boring programs, complete with scrolling footnotes at the bottom of the screen, none of which anyone would actually watch unless they had to.
For awhile there they really excelled at shows about war and, for some reason, the Me-262.

Yeah, you do have a point. I should of said they were as academically credible as any TV program could be. They still do some really excellent programing. Modern Marvels is good so is Mail Call but they have gotten a bit wacko. I prefer the Military Channel but then I am more intrested in Military History.

Ah, that's it. I think I'm confusing my theories.

You're probably thinking of Larry McDonald, a congressman who was also a John Bircher.

Did they finally recover the black box? IIRC, the Russians had the black box all along. They finally gave it to the US sometime after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

We had to take that channel off the grid because my Former Marine hubby was addicted.
He's getting it back for Christmas.

I believe Yeltsin returned them but it was said that the tapes inside had been doctored. Who knows.

It was actually called Korean Flight 7 until the KGB disinformation department got into the act with allegations that the plane went off course for the purpose of espionage.
And when these allegations were planted in the media, of course, adding the two leading zeroes to the flight number was sheer genius on somebody's part.

This show is being repeated. Does anyone have any thoughts on the information at www.rescue007.org about how the plane ditched successfully and that there are survivors, including the congressman, that were put into the Soviet prison system????
