Although not universally true (see Ron Paul for an obvious exception), my rule of thumb is that anyone who wants to control others through government, no matter how the lipstick is placed on the pig with "help society, public service" etc., has a psychological pathology that makes him unfit to hold office.

Exactly. It has gotten to the point where I really couldn't care less who wins elections anymore. It has been shown to me time and time again that once Republicans gain power they start acting like Democrats.
