I give the Iranian Navy and Air Force 24 hours, max, in a confrontation with the US. I give their army 5 days.

With the Democrats on their side, they could win.

You are correct regarding how long Iran's AF would survive (and probably a little generous. Most likely very few Iranian aircraft would even launch).

As for the Army of Iran (Professional Army) it would take longer then 5 days to defeat them entirely simply because of the logistics involved. We could resupply them fast enough to win in less then 5 days.

However, securing the victory after defeating the Iranian professional Army would be the big concern.

2006 will see more conflict with implications for the mid-terms.

I just can't see Bush letting Syria or Iran slide. The UN will be busy with Bolton and Bush driving the Syrian and Iranian issues to a head.

What will the Russian and Chinese response be?

A big year coming up IMHO.

"With the Democrats on their side, they could win."

With the Democrats on their side we can start CW 2 and eliminate these domestic vermin as well.

History is littered with the carcasses of dictators who dared to attack the United States.

Hey, this time last year, my son (LCPL) and his Marine buddies (while the were in Iraq) were calling Iran "the New Iraq"...and the saying goes, "if you want to know what's going on, ask a private!"

And maybe we're doing the same thing.

"Nuke 'em till they glow, strafe 'em in the dark, then use their glowing asses as landing lights PING!"

Exactly. Why needlessly send American Soldiers to their death when you have weapons that will eliminate the enemy en-mass.

Bush could always say sorry afterwords for protecting American military lives and wiping out millions of fanatics.
We need to use a few Thermo-nukes ... they go stale after some time.

They also said we couldn't win in Afghanistan. We all remember how that turned out.

The really pathetic thing is that it is the Democrats' actions that make this scenario possible. A unified US in Iraq would ensure others wouldn't be crazy enough to follow this lunatic.

However, securing the victory after defeating the Iranian professional Army would be the big concern.

I wonder if we could approach it differently than we approached Iraq:

Hit 'em hard. Destroy the professional army. (Like in Iraq)
Totally destroy the nuke installation.
Spend a month destroying military installations.
Leave 'em alone.
Tell the Iranian people that we can help them build a free society if they invite us in and if they take a leading role in combatting the troublemakers.
If they don't want us there, so be it. But their power will be neutralized.

If Iran launches an attack, what needs to happen is retaliation so swift and so terrible that it not only shocks the Iranians into paralysis, but horrifies the whole world, especially Europe. Hopefully, we can find a way to do that without permanently damaging our souls in the process.

Securing the peace will be the Big Job. Just like in Iraq.

I don't stay up nights worrying about the Iranian army.

Hey wait a minute. So who's so damned eager to go to war with Iran? I don't see any support for that, not with the loser Democrats in this country--and the loser GOP RINOs, nosiree, our kids have done their share, send the Demos/MSM/RINOs in this fight. UP THEIRS.

I would have to be promised that if this should happen, then we press for charges of treason and sedition, Kerry's at the top, Kennedy and I would save the fiercest punishment for RINOs as much as I hate the defeatist Dhimmocrats.

Something's going to have to give instead of hearing this constant barrage against our President day after day.
