I mean, we are at war, right? Asking questions or expressing concern about any government policy only lends aid and comfort to the enemy.

The War on Terror will never, ever, ever be won.

It is impossible to claim victory when you are fighting covert groups of what could include as few as one person, and maybe as many as 20.

So is this how we will live forever? Remember 1984 and the perpetual war? Your statement proves the fact that we will be herded into giving up our rights for a never ending war.

Our thinking is being changed that somehow we don't need our rights and that giving more power to the government to police the state is O.K.

I'm not a bomb thrower but there could possibly be a day that Orwell's book could be a threat to national security.

You think what you do is fine and legal now but if the government decides to change what is legal then you may not be happy with the power you gave them so freely in your time of fear.

So instead of fearing of an attack on our buildings we will be in fear of a warrantless raid on our home where they take you in secret and hold you indefinitely without the ability to seek council or a judge. The Patriot Act allows this exact thing to happen in America. And you think this is O.K.?

You aren't very familiar with my posting history on this forum, are you? ;-) I was simply responding like most FReepers.

I have said before that Uncle Sam poses more of a threat to our liberties than Uncle Osama. But we have become a nation of wimps. The phrase "Give me liberty, or give me death" has been replaced with "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"
