I was only suggesting that it could be, if he was so inclined.
My understanding is that much of The Wall was brought down in the Patriot Act...but have fun proving this by reading through the damn thing.

My understanding is that much of The Wall was brought down in the Patriot ActI'm not denying that that's the case. What I'm wondering is if an act of Congress is the only way it could come down. It didn't require one to put it up, so it shouldn't require one to take it down.

"Dead" my butt."We'll be right back where we are right now," said a clearly frustrated Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), added, "Our intelligence and law enforcement officials should not be left wondering, yet again, whether the Congress will manage to agree to reauthorize the tools that protect our nation."
John Cornyn is one of the best and strongest conservatives in the senate. Yet he didn't have the problems Craig had. Craig apparently went along with the extension. It will be interesting to see what he, Murkowski, Sununu and Hagel do in six months. Well, nothing Hagel does is interesting to me, but I will watch the other three.

A loss for the president no matter how he may try to spin it. He wanted it made permanent and he didn't get that. Bush wanted it permanent knowing the act's support is on the decline and the odds of the sixteen controlversial provisions being extended decline each time they come up for a vote too.
98 senators voted for the PATRIOT act in 2001, but now it can only manage 53 votes. A three month or one year extension was proposed knowing that in the time frame enough republicans would chip off that some if not all the controlversial sixteen provisions would be removed for good. The president said he was not interested in signing any short-term extension, tough crap.
Those sixteen provisions will expire. But it's near inevitable as long as it's never made permanent (and it never will be.) The longer it festers the more people will oppose it. I said it other threads I knew it would be extended for a short period of time. Quote me on it, in six months we see the end of those sixteen provisions.
RIP PATRIOT Act

Why were they attacking him personally? Because they are Dems and when they can't win .. they smear
Did somebody actually insinuate he was lying about something?
Kerry, Durbin, Reid, Levin .. the unsuals .. saying ANWR had nothing to do with Defense and Nationaly Security .. they were ready to call up Rule 26 (that was Levin)
It's hard to type it all .. you had to have seen Stevens .. maybe someone will have a video of it
He was really upset .. said he was going to everyone's state to tell the people what the Senate did .. how there won't be money ear marked for many of the spending in the future because of ANWR being stripped.
There was much more that he said

I think a lot of the Republicans have gotten too carried away trying to read the skewed polls that they're doing the opposite in hopes of increasing their poll numbers. If they would just do what they were elected to do then their constituents would appreciate them more.

I'm not sure it is the case...I hope so, but I am not sure. One conversation I had with a former senator led me to understand that some of the issues I had with the Gorelick Wall were corrected by the Patriot Act.

Senate Judiciary chairman Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., is interviewed by the Associated Press in his Capitol Hill office Arlen is such a clown that Phil Specter might be an improvement. At least the giant gray afro would distract the other congress critters for a few days.
