Bush and Frist are pussies, Frist will never get my vote for President. Judge Alito better make plans to stay in his current job.

Does anyone believe Bush or Frist when they say they will stand up to the RATS?

and we have this insane whining over the inconvenience of renting a box.

It's not the inconvenience, it's the requirement that we tell people exactly where we live. Try to buy something from someplace like Best Buy using a PO Box address - they won't sell to you. What if the $8/hr clerk who is taking your daughter's physical address is also a stalker? There is a sense of security having lived knowing no one could find your address and show up at your doorstep. I don't list my physical address in the phone book; I don't want to give it to every stranger at a store; and when I've had the same PO box for 40+ years without a problem I don't think I should really have to provide it to the Postal Service.

Incidentally, I work for the USPS, and have been involved in the Emergency Management stuff, and believe me, in the Emergency Management field they believe that ordinary people should provide their address (ID, papers) on request to any authority at any time for any reason. The Emergency Manager I work with considers people with PO Box addresses to be 'jerks who want to use some hokey address' - in his time outside work he's a volunteer fire chief. Those attitudes in the emergency management field tie into my annoyance at having to provide ID for keeping my PO Box. We don't have a right to decide who knows where we live anymore, and I don't like that well. While there are thousands of outstanding 1st responders, giving selflessly of themselves to save lives, there are also the bad apples who look for personal power, and enjoy demanding people's papers.

I stopped donating to the Repubs several months ago. Each time I receive a letter or a "survey" from the RNC or Allen, Thune, Lott or Hastert...I return their letters saying I will consider donating, once again, when they begin to stand up and support the President. I called Ken Mehlman's office and suggested he let the Republican Senators know the money will dry up unless they get their act together and begin to stand with the President.
One would never know the Republicans are the majority in the Senate. I pray true Republican candidates can be found to challenge Specter, Warner, Hagel, Sununu, DeWine..

I always get irritated with people who advocate doing away with the "monopolistic" USPS.

I make a living shipping goods both domestically and internationally. You haven't got a clue how superior our service is, nor how expensive privatized "mail" would be. UPS and Fed-Ex are not cheaper, nor do they deliver to every physical address in the 50 states.

Receiving mail is a service, not a right provided by the constitutionally mandated Postal Service to provide for the common good. It uses no tax dollars, but pays it's own way, but does not need to make a profit for it's stockholders (which is why private services will never be cheaper than the USPS).

I don't see why the rest of the country should suffer higher crime and fraud rates just because you don't like being inconvenienced renting a P.O. Box.

Great. As long as they're not dialing an area code on the Afghan/Pakistan border, they're in good shape.

Insult me all you want. Please don't talk about my kids like that.

Because it would be my preference to not go anywhere without it. Why do you ask?

So let me get this straight...You want everyone to accept the fact that (1) you have no permanent address, nor do you want one, (2) you must always have your Swiss Army knife on your person, including inflight, (3) you don't know where to rent an apartment in all of the USA and (4)you have elk fer supper? But we're all weird?

oooooh k.

Hallucenatory delusions, which you appear to suffer greatly from.

Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiight, OBL really is running America, the government is stuffed to the gills with al Qaeda members and sympathizers ( well, maybe some, on the left side of the aisle ), and you, you gweat big stwong mans, oooo, are gonna head 'em off on your nonexistent front porch.

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahah

Uh, yeah, because the President has done it before and is doing it now. Better get something straight. IF the Patriot Act is even extended for 6 months, it's not because Congress decided to act responsibly, to stay in town to do this. It's because we AND the President refused to let them jet ski off to a private resort, get drunk and leave us vulnerable.

The President has been standing up to them for weeks now on the WOT. He's standing up about wire taps.

Your statements are patently absurdd. As for Alito, he'll be confirmed. better make plans to eat those words.

I don't see the "swap" here - ANWR was going to be fillibustered in any case, and this PA extension just put the battle off to a later date.

Well next year we will eventually extend it for at least four years because the Democrats will avoid political suicide very close to elections time. However we got the ultimate deadly political ad against them and that is when Reid was boasting " We killed the Patriot Acts" and the democrats applauded him. We got them in their balls and we are going to squeeze very hard when elections time will come.

are you suggesting the Gorelick Wall was already demolished by an Dubya Executive Order?

I was only suggesting that it could be, if he was so inclined.

It was the dems and Stevens attaching the ANWR drilling into the Defense Bill

They don't think drilling is important to our nations security .. but didn't say a word about the Katrina money put in that bill

Mary was just up asking for ANOTHER 29 Billion for LA

Why were they attacking him personally? Did somebody actually insinuate he was lying about something?

Let's just hope and pray that this country doesn't go totally STUPID and put a 'RAT into the White House again.

We could wind up with someone like McCain, who'd be just about as bad. We have to craft our laws with the assumption that less-than-worthy people might (or probably will) be executing them, and therefore make sure that they have appropriate safeguards.
