Tenth Interceptor Emplaced for the Ballistic Missile Defense System

Air Force Lt. Gen. Henry “Trey” Obering III, U.S. Missile Defense Agency director, said today that the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) element of the Missile Defense Agency emplaced the eighth interceptor missile designed to intercept and destroy a long-range ballistic missile into its underground silo at Ft. Greely, Alaska on December 17.

Two interceptors are emplaced at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.

Good news. Combine that with Japan getting BMD and our aegis destroyers and we should be ok vs people like North Korea and Iran. Since they will have a small number of missles.

It would be good news indeed if indeed they work. There have been too few flight tests of the system. I would be happier to see more sucessfull intercepts.

Yes, we would be less likely to melt on US soil, but a small device mounted on a SCUD could reach Israel, Europe and everywhere in the ME.

Care to imagine what our response would be and what would happen to 40% of the world's oil reserves?

Sounds good to me as long was we are expecting ICBM's and tot boat towed warheads or ground hugging cruise missiles.

I'm pretty sure we have the technology to drill through a few feet of glass to get at it if we really need to....

The Maginot Line wasn’t penetrated, it was bypassed.
