I happen to agree with the following:
"What we really have here is a perfect illustration of why America's Founders gave the executive branch the largest measure of Constitutional authority on national security. They recognized that a committee of 535 talking heads couldn't be trusted with such grave responsibility. There is no evidence that these wiretaps violate the law. But there is lots of evidence that the Senators are 'illegally' usurping Presidential power -- and endangering the country in the process."

I completely agree as well... These Senators are completely undermining Presidential power and authority.
(IBTZ???)
Every time the rank and file Senators complain that they didn't see the same intel the Admin saw on Iraq, I'm reminded that the reason they don't is that they were leaking like a sieve when the Bush Admin came in, so the Bush Admin stopped briefing the full Senate, and only gave the NIEs and SNIEs to the Intelligence Committee so that if it leaked they could pinpoint the leak. This actually started a big part of the war on Bush that we see today... the Senators don't take their prerogatives being trampled on lightly.
Of course, I'm sure the leaking was coming from Leahy or Rockefeller in the first place, so the benefits were prob. marginal.
