Locking down for safety reasons

Tampa police are taking action to prevent gun accidents.

This comes after the death of four-year-old Jovan Mitchell who died over the weekend. Investigators believe he found a gun inside a closet and accidentally shot himself.

Because of that tragic incident, the Project Safe Child Organization is providing free gunlocks in Hillsborough County.

The gunlocks can be picked up at any Hillsborough sheriff's district office. It's all part of a nationwide program to help ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage.

Very little has been said about this incident. If I had my druthers, I'd say it was a stolen gun that was "left at a friend's house" or something of the like. The area in which this incident occurred is notorious for drugs, prostitution and violence. Just my $.02.

Feel-good reactionism. Zero effect.

My firearms will be stored safely and unloaded --- only after they have been used in self-defense and where the unloading is in the direction of the perp(s).
