I took Zantac for years and the heartburn kept getting worse.
Finally I stopped and it hurt like the devil for a week and then never bothered me again.

Apple cider vinegar will fix heartburn too even though it certainly seems paradoxical.
I haven't heartburn since 1984 when I quit smoking.
