Is there any chance that you guys could drop the personal attacks and actually address the issues?

If a person asserts that the Patriot Act says one thing and you disagree, why not just write "I think you are misreading it - here is my take..." rather than "you are a fool and you can't even read right"

The personal attacks make us all look like DUmmies. I am all for a healthy debate but belittling your opponent smacks of Al Gore and John Kerry campaign tactics. FReepers are much better people that that, no matter what side of this debate they are on.
