'American Taliban' Wants Out of Jail
NewsMax ^ | 12/20/05 | AP

The so-called "American Taliban" is asking the president again to commute his sentence.

Lawyers for John Walker Lindh have renewed a Petition for Commutation, asking President Bush to commute Lindh's 20-year prison sentence.

Lindh had originally asked President Bush to shorten his sentence in September of last year, saying his case should get another look after another U-S born Taliban suspect - Yaser Esam Hamdi - was released.

In an appeal to the president filed yesterday, Lindh's lawyers say other defendants who have recently pleaded guilty to similar charges have received much shorter sentences.

Lindh grew up in Marin County, Calif. He was captured with other Taliban prisoners in Afghanistan in December 2001.

He is serving 20 years in prison for aiding the Taliban as an armed combatant.

Memo to the AP:
There is nothing "so-called" about his status, this prick was caught with a gun in his hand firing on American troops, he should have been executed for treason.

Perhaps Lindh should try writing children's books while it prison. That might help him earn early release.

If there had been any real justice this little bastard would have gotten the firing squad. In the meantime I hope Jihad Johnny enjoys being the bitch of his cell block.

Another thing that pisses me off is the probability that they have this a$$hole in protective custody, I wish they would stick him in the prison's general population and let them know just what he's in there for.

Another petulant demanding brat thinking he deserves clemency. Just like Hinckley. He can rot in prision. He's safer there. America is safer with him there. If gets out the Democrats will make him a celebrity, if not a candidate.

Oh, and by the way, any of you Freepers who like to post about the life expectancy of notorious criminals in the General Population of a large prision have some serious explaining to do.

... waiting..... tap tap tap....

Commonly overheard greeting for little Johnny out in G.P. will be "What's up 'Maytag?'"

The minute our soldiers saw that he was an American, one of them should have just blown his head off right where he was captured.

It worked for Tookie. He could have been in there for decades more. He got out when he was 51. On a side note, he was room temperature when it happened.

I thought at the time (as many FReepers did) that it was a mistake to let this punk off with a jail sentence. An American that bears arms against his own country in time of war deserves the death penalty.

Mark my words. Some future 'rat President will let this looser free with apologies. The only questions is what he will do once free: professional protester, journalist, college professor, congress woman from Ithaca (after the taxpayer financed sex change operation).

What do you mean by this? My guess is that Lindh is not in general population.
