Without pre-judging this particular incident - the article gives no clue what it was all about - I've always been a bit suspicious of Osteen's act. A bit too slick and wet-behind-the-ears, and it looks like he's yet another TV preacher living the high life. I saw Joyce Meyer on TV a couple of weeks ago, dressed to the hilt (albeit in somewhat bad taste), and preaching about money.
He preaches to FORTY THOUSAND per week?
I was trying to explain Joyce Meyer to a Muslim friend of mine (yeah, I know it's a shock- you thought I didn't have any friends), anyway, I was explaining her view that if God loves you He will give you material blessings. My friend said "God must not love 2/3 of the world" I think he has a better grasp on the main tennants of Christianity than most TV preachers.......
Jesus preached about money more than He preached about any other topic. (BTW, He had a lot of it.)
Meyer received millions, records show (TV Preacher Joyce Meyer)
That's her favorite sermon ;o)
What gives you that idea? Doesn't everyone jet to Vail or Aspen for Christmas?
I see this thread started yesterday so I'm a bit late. I don't know why but I just never liked this guy that much - not that he isn't sincere but for one I don't like the revolving glass globe - it just gives me the heebs. My best friend loves this guy and has bought his book, You're Best Life Ever." I don't like to judge people but he seems to preach the health & wealth gospel. Also, while I am not RC, I often think of Mother Theresa and how she devoted her life to the poor of India and can't imagine her ever reading a book like that! She is my model for Christlike behavior, though I know I will never even come close to her acts of charity.
