I hope you are not using that excerpt to justify the use of the tree as a legitimate Christian symbol for the the preceding verses explain that this is the custom of the heathen and one should not follow it for it is vain.
"Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, ... For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."
For the record, I have a tree up. Always have. Always will. It isn't overly decorated with expensive items like gold or silver and it is not in vain. It is humble and I do not worship it.
