They give somebody access inside the machine to install their own pre-programmed card, and they call this "hacking"??
What system is there that would NOT be compromised by allowing somebody access to the inside of the box?
Good grief.
I agree. That isn't "hacking". Even paper ballots can be "hacked" if this is what they call hacking. Anyone with access to the ballot box could scoop out half of the paper ballots and replace them with pre- prepared ones.
I say go with SS cards that have your info built into it like a bank card. When you vote, you swipe your SS card before you drop in your paper ballot, The person is automatically registered as having voted in a central data center. That way nobody can vote twice. An alarm would go off if someone tried to swipe twice.
No SS card? Too bad, non- citizens can't vote. Dead people and under age people can't vote.
They are called election boards, usually Democrats.
If there is a doubt I say we go to the system we use in this county in CA. We mark a line to the person we want to vote for and it is scanned electronically. This is almost impossible to cheat on if you verify with voter ID and can easily be counted by hand also. If we are to continue with all paper ballots however, each state needs to pass laws that disallow votes "discovered" after the main count. Also, strong voter ID laws need to be passed.
Exactly. Paper ballot elections got fixed as well with multiple voters & "stuffing the ballot box". Nothing is foolproof except maybe the townhall meeting style where everyone has a voice vote.
But, that may lead to voter intimidation for those who speak up for the wrong candidate.
