O is the most common blood type. O positive, with roughly 40% of the population. Then comes A positive with something like 30% of the population. B is fairly rare.

Yes, my mistake. AB-, as I understand is most rare. As I recall from my blood-giving days, less than 1% of the population has it. Fortunately it is the universal recipient.
