Jan & Dean song, true; written by Jan Berry, Dean Torrence, and the True American Musical Genius Brian Wilson.

I saw Jan & Dean perform twice about 1980, when Jan was trying to make his comeback 24 years after crashing his Corvette at Dead Man's Curve. Sadly, he was paralyzed on once side and it was clear he was mouthing his vocals, which the keyboard player was singing with Dean Torrence. Of course, the last time I saw the Beach Boys play with Brian Wilson, he got up from his white grand piano during the middle of Good Vibrations and wandered around the stage until somebody came out and led him backstage. Another musician, apparently kept for just such an eventuality, appeared, took Brian's place, and finished the concert. Alas, I have no stories of weird performance by Dean Torrence.

Surf City was one of the great songs of that genre.
