Armed New Hampshirites torch UN flag again

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:13:53 AM PST by Dada Orwell

Dec. 19, 2005

Carrying pitchforks, revolvers and pistols, 21 New Englanders came together in southwestern New Hampshire Sunday for the Second Annual UN Flag Burn. All smiles despite sub-freezing weather, most indicated they are members of NHfree.com, a local offshoot of the Free State Project.

Demonstrators focused particular scorn on the UN's repeated efforts to support gun bans around the world. But a more subtle goal is to re-inforce New Hampshire's Live Free or Die reputation, drawing additional freedom lovers to move to the state.

"This kind of thing helps get the word out," says activist Dave Ridley of Keene. "If you are a freedom lover, there's a party going on in New Hampshire, and you're missing it."

Since New Hampshire was chosen as a target for migration by the libertarian Free State Project, about 150 have moved and become increasingly vocal in the state's political process.

<< The people moving north from MA (I escaped MA ten years ago) are usually conservatives...>>

This is correct, confirmed by a Union Leader research project and Free Stater research projects as well. The Free Stater "ideological map" of new hampshire shoes the regions bordering Mass. are generally most conservative/libertarian. The most active pro-liberty zone in america may in fact be the area just north of the authoritarian state of Mass. Here's a shot of me educating a police officer about open carry in southern NH:

"Burning a UN flag will get you ticketed by Lansing police.:"

We have thus far held public burnings of UN flags, Social security cards and two FEMA flags...the police protest by email and phone but do not otherwise try to stop us, they don't even show up. I did get a call once from a Fed marshal suggesting we stomp on the FEMA flag or rip it up as opposed to burning it LOL.

At this UN flag burn the park administrator sent us an email trying to stop us and in response 4 free staters showed up at his office with a video camera and ambush-interivewed him like some kind of TV I-team. They got their park access.

UN Flags Burned in Robin Hood Park 12/18/05

Keene, NH
December 19th, 2005

by Russell Kanning staff reporter
A small crowd of people gathered in Robin Hood Park yesterday to thumb their noses at the United Nations. They brought multiple UN Flags to burn over the fire on poles. Others held signs asking the US to get out of the UN.

The UN wants to disarm the world's population. These people were openly carrying their sidearms and telling the United Nations, "Not today!"

They roasted sausages and marshmellows over the fire with pitchforks. As the event wound down parents and kids were sledding nearby.
