</I> Shades of FDR.</I>When an American soldier is killed or wounded I am certain that President Bush feels deep grief. I listened to quite a few of FDRs speeches during the war and I did not get the impression that he was deeply touched by our losses. I think that in his mind we were just expendable peons.
I was referring to the tone of Dubya's speech. In essence, he was saying "chin up," to the country. And this country needed to hear it.
But I, too, was very, very touched when he spoke of the parents who miss terribly their loved ones lost in the war.
