Microsoft has confirmed that there are problems with the Xbox 360 video game console. GameSHOUT received reports as early as the day of the Xbox 360 launch.
As we reported yesterday, several Microsoft Xbox 360 owners have complained about their video game consoles (see this article on Xbox 360 Recall Likely for more details). As it turns out, all the rumors were true. There are several Microsoft Xbox 360 owners having problems with flaky screens, dead hard drives, and even scratched discs.
Microsoft Xbox 360 spokeswoman Molly O'Donnel confirmed that the rumors were true, and stated, "We have received a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected."
GameSHOUT has received many complaints from Microsoft Xbox 360 owners, and it seems the common problems are power shutdowns for no reason at all. The complaints started within a few hours of the launch date, November 22nd.
Microsoft has declined to say how many reports the company has received regarding Xbox 360 problems, but did say, "very, very small fraction" of units sold. The number of calls was not unexpected, Ms. O'Donnel said. "With any launch of this magnitude, you're bound to see something happening," she said.
MS O'Donnell said that if a helpline call could not solve the problem, Microsoft would repair or replace the unit. However, some Xbox 360 owners feel that the problems are more severe than what Microsoft is stating, and rumors again are reporting that the company could recall some of the xbox 360 units. We will keep you updated on any further developments on this story.
